The earliest mention of astrology was found in the Ṛgveda and Yajurveda, over 2500 years ago. The first systematic codification of prediction came in the Bṛhat Jātaka, approximately 1450 years ago. What followed was a long and complicated history, and what is practised today is largely not Vedic.
